Running Diagnostics

Design Studio provides a diagnostic feature to help you identify hardware and communication problems with your Ketra devices. The diagnostics program queries on every device (not group) in the installation.

Note: Runs of linear fixtures are not included separately from their N3 Satellite.

We recommend running a diagnostic test before contacting Tech Support, because the problem might be easy to resolve on-site; however, this is a recommendation, not a requirement.

To run a diagnostics check on your installation, follow these steps:

1. From the Organization tab or Device Control tab, click the heartbeat icon in the top-left corner.

2. Click Start. The program may take a while to run, since it attempts to contact every device in the installation.

The results will tell you two things:

  • Radio signal strength of your devices
    • Green: Good
    • Yellow: Fair
    • Red: Poor — The device’s housing is interfering with its signal, or it is too distant from other nodes on the same KNet
    • Dark: Unknown — The device is not powered on or is completely out of range
  • Device problems, represented by an error code to the right of the signal-strength status. Click the error code to open a detailed description.
